LinuxCon pass, check. Plane ticket, check. Hotel reservation, check. Penguin suit, don’t’ count on it…
That’s right. LinuxCon is next week! Finally, after a year of planning since its debut in Portland, Oregon last year, we’re going to be kicking off this year’s event this Tuesday!
The schedule is packed with really good content from Jim Zemlin’s opening keynote to other keynotes from SFLC’s Eben Moglen, Qualcomm’s Rob Chandhok and Novell’s Markus Rex. Executives from Intel and Nokia will share MeeGo progress. Forrester’s Jeffrey Hammond will share his latest research findings on open source development trends. Stormy Peters from GNOME Foundation and Oracle’s Wim Coekaerts are also keynoters next week.
As far as general sessions go, here are a few of my picks:

Hosting an event during the summer months calls for some fun, we thought. So, we’ve really worked hard this year to offer some fun evening events – good for relaxing or networking. We’ll be bowling on Tuesday night, an annual LinuxCon tradition. On Wednesday, we’re cruising the Boston Harbor. That’s right; get your boarding pass onsite. There are other social opportunities, too. One opportunity is to grab a scoop of your favorite flavor with Red Hat/OpenSource.com. They will be at Ben & Jerry’s (across the street from Marriott) Monday at 6:30 p.m.
Lastly, in keeping with the LinuxCon experience established last year, we will have complimentary chair massage, Wii gaming stations and the 24/7 Hacker Lounge. Also, check out the LinuxCon Bookstore and Linux.com Merchandise Store onsite. T-shirts with the Linux.com T-shirt design contest winning graphic will be available for the first time.
